Manometric assessment of the esophagogastroduodenal zone in esophageal achalasia

Purpose: to evaluate the tone of the sphincter apparatus of the esophageal-gastro-duodenal zone in patients with esophageal achalasia (EA) using digital pneumatic balloon manometry (PBM).
Materials and methods. The study was conducted in 58 patients with esophageal achalasia (ЕА). The subjects were divided into groups according to the stages of ЕА: stage I (n = 5), stage II (n = 22), stage III (n = 27), stage IV (n = 4) and control group (n = 9).
